It has been left to independent media and the small band of Republicans who still have spines to keep the plight of the Jan. 6 political prisoners in the public spotlight.
One of the Republicans who have been fighting for the detainees, some of whom have been held without trial for over a year, said during a June 15 press conference that the detainees have faced “nothing short of human rights violations.”
The detainees are “being used as pawns to dangle in front of [Americans] to show that if you cross a certain line, if you support a certain president — as in President Trump — or if you dare to speak up against the government or … against an election being stolen, you’re going to be used. This is what’s gonna happen to you. You’re gonna spend your days wasting away in solitary confinement," Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said.
“Shame on them. Shame on the Department of Justice. Shame on all these judges here who are allowing this to happen, shame on [Washington] Mayor Muriel Bowser.”
Rep. Greene noted: “Everyone should care about this. You wanna know why? Because it shouldn’t happen in America. This isn’t communist China, this isn’t Venezuela, this isn’t Russia, this isn’t some other country — this is the United States of America.”
Former President Donald Trump, meanwhile, issued a statement updating the state of affairs regarding the Jan. 6 committee and the 2022 elections:
"Same thing’s going to happen in Wyoming to Virginia “resident” Liz Cheney, that happened in South Carolina to Congressman “Impeach Master” Tom Rice, who lost as an incumbent by 28 points! To me she is nothing less than a war criminal who has done a TERRIBLE job for the Great State of Wyoming!
"The Fake News Networks are perpetuating lies, falsehoods, and Russia, Russia, Russia type disinformation (same sick people, here we go again!) by allowing the low rated but nevertheless one sided and slanderous Unselect Committee hearings to go endlessly and aimlessly on (and on and on!). It is a one sided, highly partisan Witch Hunt, the likes of which has never been seen in Congress before. Therefore, I am hereby demanding EQUAL TIME to spell out the massive Voter Fraud & Dem Security Breach!
"The Unselect Committee has been unable the answer, or in any way refute, the detailed statement, put out yesterday, of voter fraud and irregularities in numerous states that took place in the 2020 Presidential Election. They don’t answer because they have no answer. All they say is it is “the BIG LIE,” when actually it is the BIG LIE in reverse. THEY CANNOT DEFEND THE FRAUD AND IRREGULARITIES THAT TOOK PLACE, AND ON A MASSIVE SCALE. THEY WON’T EVEN TRY. The Committee is a SCAM!"
The Epoch Times on June 13 detailed the plight of Jan. 6 prisoner Chris Worrell, who was finally released by a federal judge after being denied cancer treatment for eight months.
Worrell is now “in dire straights,” according to his girlfriend.
On March 10, Worrell was arrested and charged with alleged offenses related to his presence at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
According to the March 10, 2021, criminal complaint, Worrell is charged with knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds, engaging in disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building, and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
According to the statement of facts, the FBI received a tip alleging that Worrell had participated in the breach at the Capitol. However, there is no evidence that Worrell entered the Capitol building.
Worrell’s girlfriend, Trish Priller, was at their Florida home while Worrell was away on a canoeing trip when the FBI stormed the residence on March 11, 2021.
“They flash banged me and held me at gunpoint,” Priller told The Epoch Times. “When I went outside I had all of the lasers on me. They held me in my home for seven and a half hours. During that time they were rifling through everything in the house and I had to sit in a chair and watch them. I couldn’t go anywhere. If I wanted something to drink, they would bring it to me. When I had to go to the restroom I had to go with two agents with me into the bathroom. I was held prisoner in my home for all that time.”
Five hours into the ordeal, Priller said she was allowed to call Worrell and give the phone to the FBI. The agents agreed that Worrell could come home. During the 3-hour drive back home, Worrell checked in about every 30 minutes to let the FBI know where he was, Priller said. When Worrell arrived, he was immediately handcuffed, searched, and brought into the house. Documents show Worrell was taken to Fort Meyers, Florida.
Worrell has a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, and had been managing the illness since he was diagnosed in 2007. He remained at stage one of the illness for several years. His condition, however, worsened as he was sent to two facilities before finally ending up at the Correctional Treatment Facility in Washington, referred to many Jan. 6 prisoners as “the gulag.” At that point, Worrell had gone 75 days without his medications.
By the time Worrel was released from prison, he hadn’t had any medications for eight months. At that point, he had gone from stage one cancer to stage three, The Epoch Times report noted.
Another Jan. 6 prisoner, Jeremy Brown, issued a warning to the American people regarding the “farce” House Select Committee.
On the evening of June 8, The Epoch Times received an audio recording from Jeremy Brown in which he addresses the American people.
“I am coming to you today on the 253rd day of my illegal, unconstitutional imprisonment to advise and warn the American people that what you are about to see is part of this compromised government’s well-orchestrated, highly produced lie, meant to target the minds and perception of the uninformed and misinformed masses with the intent to demonize and dehumanize their opposition,” Brown said in an audio recording released to The Epoch Times.
(The transcript of the recording can be found here.)
“Their opponents are anyone who disagrees or even asks questions about their false authority and their anti-American and anti-liberty agenda,” Brown continues. “Their goal is to take down America and ‘Build Back Better’ in a form suitable to their authoritarian utopia dreamland, also known as the Great Reset.”
Brown, a 20-year U.S. Special Services Master Sergeant and combat veteran, is also a candidate for the Florida House of Representatives, District 62. He is running for the seat from his jail cell.
Brown says he is being held not because of what the government claims he did, but because the FBI and Department of Justice are aware that he knows the truth about what they did. In an alleged effort to keep him from exposing that truth, they have denied him access to any evidence in his case for over eight months. He also reminds Americans that the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force already attempted to recruit him “to be part of their fraud.”
“But I turned them down,” he said, noting that he even recorded the encounter in order to expose them, and it was after that recording got out that they had him arrested “and planted evidence” in order to keep him incarcerated.
Citing the summer 2020 Black Lives Matter riots, which caused billions in damage across the United States and resulted in many violent rioters avoiding charges, Greene said that the treatment of Jan. 6 defendants shows that the United States has a “two-tiered justice system.”
“They got let off, and not only did they get let off — they got bailed out by our now-vice president, Kamala Harris, and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar,” Greene said of the rioters. “You haven’t seen Republicans bailing [Jan. 6 defendants] out or paying their attorney fees. But that’s exactly what Democrats did — and they were cheered on.”
“And here we have these peoples’ rights being abused, and nobody gives a damn,” Greene said of the Jan. 6 detainees.
