Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called out CNN for “press malpractice” in its coverage of Covid, telling CNN on air personality Dana Bash “you were part of the problem.”

In a Sunday interview, Kennedy told Bash: “There was absolute press malpractice. Your job — your job — is a fierce skepticism toward authority, and you weren’t doing that. You were beating up on people who were dissenting.”
Kennedy said CNN was punishing those who distrusted Covid overlord Anthony Fauci, noting that Fauci lied about masks, social distancing, natural immunity, vaccine transmission and the origins of the virus.
“We know that Anthony Fauci, who was the expert, was lying about everything,” Kennedy said. “He was lying. And you were punishing people for not trusting the experts.”
CNN defended Bash in a statement to Fox News Digital:
“Dana Bash is a veteran journalist who conducted a newsmaking interview with Secretary Kennedy in which he stated that he supports parents getting their children vaccinated against measles and addressed President Trump’s push for further study into autism and vaccines.
“Asking tough, substantive questions to those in power is the job of every journalist, and Dana did hers incredibly well today. We stand behind Dana, her reporting, and CNN’s overall coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic.”
The alleged objectivity of the “veteran journalist” Bash when it comes to Fauci and Covid was displayed in Fauci’s diary, which was released late last month by Sen. Rand Paul. In it, Fauci documented text messages he received from Bash.
In an April 17, 2021 diary entry following a House Select Subcommittee hearing involving Rep. Jim Jordan, Fauci quoted Bash as writing: “I just watched the whole Jordan thing. Again, you’re a better man than I…. As our friend Wolf Blitzer said to me yesterday – no one would have blamed you if you said simply ‘Mr. Jordan, go f— yourself. ‘”
Fauci noted that Bash texted him again the next day, drawing his attention to a Vanity Fair headline that mocked Jordan’s performance during the hearing.
