Senators motivated by vacations: Save America Act? Not so much

It’s the first week of August, and U.S. Senators are quite determined to tackle one of their top current priorities … going on vacation.

Passing legislation that would require voter ID and proof of citizenship to cast a ballot in federal elections?

Not so much.

One Republican senator isn’t thrilled with the unanimity on blocking a government shutdown until December, noting the absence of movement on the SAVE America Act.

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) thinks that Sen. John Thune (R-SD) is making a big mistake in not pushing for the votes. There’s a growing number of Senators who want to skip the August recess until the bill is passed.
