The suspect in Sunday's terror attack in Boulder, Colorado is an Egyptian national who is in the U.S. illegally after entering during the Biden-Harris Administration, reports say.
Authorities say Mohamed Sabry Soliman used a makeshift flamethrower to set several people on fire at an event which was held to support Israeli hostages taken by Hamas.
The terror attack left eight people, ages 52 to 88, with injuries, including one in critical condition, according to the FBI. One of the injured is a Holocaust survivor, according to reports.
Soliman, 46, was arrested and taken to the hospital with minor injuries after the attack on the "Run for Their Lives" group that was gathering on Pearl Street in Boulder, police said Sunday night. He was allegedly yelling "free Palestine" during the attack.
"Run for Their Lives" is a grassroots organization that facilitates run and walk events worldwide calling for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
President Donald Trump responded to the attack in a post to Truth Social:
Yesterday’s horrific attack in Boulder, Colorado, WILL NOT BE TOLERATED in the United States of America. He came in through Biden’s ridiculous Open Border Policy, which has hurt our Country so badly. He must go out under “TRUMP” Policy. Acts of Terrorism will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law. This is yet another example of why we must keep our Borders SECURE, and deport Illegal, Anti-American Radicals from our Homeland. My heart goes out to the victims of this terrible tragedy, and the Great People of Boulder, Colorado!Soliman first arrived in the U.S. after landing at Los Angeles International Airport on Aug. 27, 2022, with a non-immigrant visa. He was authorized to stay through Feb. 2, 2023, but never left. On Sept. 9, 2022, he filed a claim with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
On March 29, 2023, Soliman was granted work authorization, which expired in April of this year.
“Immigration security is national security,” White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said on X. “No more hostile migration. Keep them out and send them back.”
Soliman's bail was set at $10 million, according to the Boulder Sheriff's Office.
Soon after the attack, FBI Director Kash Patel released a statement saying: “We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado,” Patel said. “Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available.”
Meanwhile, CNN trotted out none other disgraced former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe to second-guess Patel.
CNN’s Juliette Kayyem tried to set the tone: “Local authorities are saying one thing, and the FBI is saying something slightly different.” Enter McCabe, who immediately downplayed the situation: “Yeah, that’s never a great start… I think that the press conference we saw, one thing was abundantly clear, is they—the local authorities—were being very, very careful, and I think that’s the right approach at this point. They don’t have a clear idea…”
"Of course, the real issue for CNN and their pals like McCabe isn’t that they think the FBI jumped the gun—it’s that the bureau dared to call out terrorism when it didn’t fit the preferred narrative," Town Hall's Matt Margolis noted.
"If the Boulder firebombing had targeted a pride parade instead of a pro-Israel event, the media would’ve immediately blamed conservative Christians—just like they did after the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting," Margolis added. "Back then, the press rushed to frame the massacre as an anti-LGBT hate crime driven by Christian bigotry, despite the shooter being a Muslim who pledged allegiance to ISIS. Later, even left-wing outlets admitted the attack wasn’t motivated by anti-LGBT hate at all. Still, the false narrative persists."
Last month, a man who shouted “Free Palestine” fatally shot two Israeli Embassy staffers near a Jewish museum in Washington, DC.
“This is the second violent attack on the U.S. Jewish community in two weeks,” said Anti-Defamation League Chief Executive Jonathan Greenblatt. “Two peaceful Jewish events that ended with rage-filled, violent attacks.”
JUST IN: The man who is accused of the Boulder terror attack was in the U.S. illegally and entered into the country under the Biden admin on 8/27/22 through LAX, according to @BillMelugin_.
