The Communists are coming, Part II: Soros funding sets records for midterms

Analysis by WorldTribune Staff, June 28, 2026 Non-AI Real World News

Leftist billionaire George Soros and son Alex have poured $102.8 million into this year’s midterm elections. With four months remaining until Election Day, it is all but certain that Soros’s spending will be a record for a single election cycle.

“The Soros family is angrier than ever at American politics,” Parker Thayer, investigative researcher at Capital Research Center, told the New York Post. “They would prefer to remake America into something entirely different.”

The Communists are coming. And they have deep-pocketed sponsors.

Nearly all of the Soros funding of leftists in the midterms has been funneled through the Democracy Political Action Committee, the super PAC Soros launched in 2020, the New York Post reported on June 27.

The PAC “acts as the family’s main political arm, obfuscating efforts to know which radical candidates the clan is propping up,” The Post noted.

More than $50 million came from George Soros through the private corporation Geosor under his name. Another $50 million came from Fund for Policy Reform, a nonprofit which lists Alex Soros as director in tax filings.

Control of the dark money PAC was changed before the 2024 presidential election, with the elder Soros handing over the reins of his empire to his “more political” son Alex Soros, the fourth of five children.

“He wants to be more political than his dad, this is the first midterm cycle where he is in control,” Thayer said. “George is not in control, he hasn’t been in control in some time.”

President Donald Trump, speaking at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s annual Road to Majority Conference on Friday, Pwarned about the threat of communism in the United States, coming as socialist candidates have been making gains in primary races nationwide.

Noting the recent wins of socialist candidates in New York City’s Democrat primaries, Trump said: “As you saw with the communists elected in New York City recently, they’re communists, they’re not social Democrats, they want to completely destroy the traditional American way of life.”

The president said that “communism is very easy to sell,” but “destroys everything.”

Trump joked that “I’d be the greatest communist in history. Ladies and gentlemen, from now on, you don’t have to pay any rent. From now on, anybody wants a house, don’t worry about it, just pick the house you want. Everybody gets free food. Everything is free from this point forward. Everyone’s gonna vote for me.”

“The problem is, after two or three years, the country is a disaster area. The country fails. They always do it. Always so easy to sell that first year.” He said this is what is occurring in New York, as well as California.

“But you’ll start living in squalor. You’ll live in squalor. There will be no food, there’ll be no housing, there’ll be no military, there’ll be no law and order, there’ll be no nothing. You’ll be a third-world inhabitant in every way, and everyone will suffer or die.”

The $102.8 million pumped into the midterms by the Soros clan does not count the family’s main organization, the Open Society Foundation — which funds efforts to decriminalize drugs, open the border, and abolish the police — and its lobbying wing the Open Society Action Fund, “which is even more obscure as it doesn’t have to disclose political spending because it’s registered as a nonprofit claiming to do mere advocacy work,” The Post noted.

In previous election cycles, the Open Society Action Fund’s cash flowed to groups backing leftists including Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar.

Soros has also funneled more than $15 million into pro-Hamas organizations behind campus protests, funded groups supplying paid activists at violent anti-ICE protess at Delaney Hall and spent more than $7 million “pushing for a litany of soft on crime bills that could spring Gotham’s worst killers like notorious ‘Son of Sam,’ ” The Post’s report said.

Both George and Alex Soros sent a maximum contributions of $7,000 to Maine senatorial candidate Graham Platner, “who’s been accused of misconduct toward women and regularly slams the rich — despite his own wealthy upbringing and lining his pockets with billionaire money,” The Post noted.

“The fat cat’s spawn maxed out donations and sent $7,000 to Jimmy Choo-wearing Omar, who’s been slammed for allegedly knowing about the widespread fraud involving the Somali community in her Minneapolis district. Omar has denied wrongdoing. He also sent a max donation of $7,000 to multimillionaire Silicon Valley lefty Rep. Ro Khanna, who’s said to be mulling a 2028 presidential run,” the report added.

“There are two guarantees in life — death and George Soros writing a blank check for Democrats,” said Republican National Committee Spokeswoman Delanie Bomar.

“They don’t have the cash or resources that Republicans have, which is why they are turning to antisemitic dark money from a billionaire.”
