Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing heavy backlash after a new book claims he received a direct warning from the United Arab Emirates about an impending Hamas attack days before Oct. 7, 2023.

UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed called Netanyahu about 10 days before the Oct. 7 attack, the Israeli news outlet Haaretz reported, citing the book which is titled “Kidnapped: 843 Days of Abandonment.”
The UAE leader spoke with Netanyahu for 45 minutes and warned that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar planned a major operation that would bring heavy bloodshed and hurt regional peace, the book by reporters Shlomi Eldar and Ruth Yuva claims.
Eldar and Yuva cite senior officials, recordings, internal documents and correspondences, as well as a close adviser to bin Zayed.
The allegations echo reports from U.S. lawmakers in the wake of the terror attack that Egyptian intelligence officials also provided Israel with a warning about a possible terrorist attack days before Hamas launched its operation.
The book claims Netanyahu dismissed the risk and did not share the warning with top security chiefs.
The prime minister’s political rivals in Israel quickly used the report to demand accountability. They argue that Netanyahu ignored crucial warning signs before the historic security failure.
Netanyahu’s office rejected the report, calling it an “absolute lie” and said the phone call never happened.
The allegations come just weeks before Israel is set to hold its national elections, with Netanyahu facing increased pressure over the wars in Gaza and Iran.
