Michigan Democrats needed some late mail-in-ballot magic to keep a Marxist from winning Tuesday’s primary for U.S. Senate.
Again, they turned to Detroit.

This time, critics say, it doesn’t appear they weren’t able to conjure enough votes to get the establishment’s preferred candidate over the finish line.
Marxist Muslim Abdul El-Sayed, backed by Bernie Sanders and AOC and campaigned with BFF Hasan Piker (the guy who says America deserved 9/11) defeated Rep. Haley Stevens, who had the endorsements of Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, and Gretchen Whitmer.
“The establishment was scared stiff, and ready to pull out all their tricks to stop the Marxist Muslim from winning,” Revolver News noted.
They apparently thought Detroit’s late-arriving mail-in ballots would give Stevens the victory. Stevens was winning Detroit’s mail ballots by more than 53 percentage points, taking approximately 74.7 percent compared with El-Sayed’s 21.1 percent.
Revolver News noted: “That might be a stunning margin in a Dem-versus-Republican race, right? But this was D versus D race. A 53-point mail-ballot advantage for the establishment candidate in an extremely tight Dem primary is enough to make people squint at the screen, and wonder whether the party reached into its bag of election goodies and pulled out another mail-in rescue.
“The establishment’s massive Detroit mail-ballot advantage did narrow the race, rattled El-Sayed’s supporters, and nearly dragged Stevens across the finish line. But ‘nearly’ doesn’t win races. The rescue failed.”
Democrats pumped a lot of money into the Stevens campaign. Pro-Stevens super PACs and groups (such as AIPAC-affiliated committees and dark-money groups like A Stronger Michigan) poured an estimated $30 million to $46 million into independent advertising and television spending to boost Stevens.
El-Sayed received a much smaller fraction of outside group backing, estimated at around $2 million to $3.5 million from progressive and pro-Palestine aligned outside political action committees.
“That leaves Dems with the candidate they spent tens of millions of dollars trying to stop: a Bernie-backed Marxist Muslim whose agenda is far to the left of any average Michigan voter and whose victory represents another major step in the Dem Party’s march toward full-blown communism,” Revolver News noted.
In November’s general election, El Sayed will face Republican Mike Rogers.
Rogers served as an officer in the U.S. Army, worked as an FBI special agent investigating organized crime and public corruption, represented Michigan in Congress, and chaired the House Intelligence Committee. President Trump has endorsed his Senate campaign.
But wait, some are suggesting the Democrat primary is not over.
Legacy media outlets seem divided. Some are saying El Sayed is the victor while others continue to insist it is too close to call.
“There are rumblings that more ‘mail-in ballots’ could still be rolling in,” Revolver News noted. “Some are even suggesting the race is still too close to call. We’ve also seen this before, haven’t we? So, while many are reporting the race is over, perhaps Dems are firing up the machines and printing like crazy.”
